Miramar City Information

Miramar is a city located in Broward County, Florida, about 14 miles southwest of Fort Lauderdale and 20 miles north of Miami. The city shares its name with a Cuban suburb of Havana and its name means "view of the sea" in Spanish. Miramar was incorporated in 1955 and has grown in size from its original 2.9 square miles to over 30 square miles.

Things To Do in Miramar

The city's motto is "beauty and progress" and this phrase is inscribed on the city seal. Miramar has 22 neighborhood parks and 5 community parks within its boundaries, as well as the Miramar Civic Center which hosts events such as Caribe Fest and the Halloween Masquerade Dance.

The city is also building a Town Center which will include a new City Hall, public library, and Miramar Cultural Arts Center, in addition to retail and residential spaces.
